Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Foundation Announces Grand Marshal of 2024 Lumberjack Days

Stillwater, MN - The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Foundation will be hosting the Lumberjack Days Parade this year on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, in partnership with the City of Stillwater and the new Lumberjack Day’s organizers. The parade is part of the annual, multi-day Lumberjack Days event, held this year on July 19-21, 2024. 

The LumberJack Days Parade will start at 11:00 a.m., with parade units following the original parade route. “We’re honored to be a part of this special tradition and are excited for another year of families, friends and celebrations along the parade route,” said Robin Anothony-Evenson, President of the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation. “With over 100 parade units, it will be a jam-packed day celebrating all things summer in Stillwater,” she continues.

The Chamber Foundation is pleased to announce the 2024 Lumberjack Parade Grand Marshal is Washington County Commissioner Gary Kriesel. Few in the county have a record of service as storied as Commissioner Gary Kriesel who has worked on behalf of the county’s residents for two decades. During that time, he has placed a special emphasis on protecting and preserving the county’s natural beauty and its financial health and stability.

Commissioner Gary Kriesel was elected in November 2004 to represent the residents of District 3. He was reelected in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. He has also served two years on the city council for the city of Stillwater. He has been an active member in many civic organizations and on advisory boards of Washington County. Commissioner Kriesel retired from Xcel Energy (formerly Northern States Power) after 33 years. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. Commissioner Kriesel is an advocate for allowing counties to set their own tax levies and to manage issues related to a rapidly growing population. Commissioner Kriesel and his wife, Ann, live in Stillwater, Minnesota.
