GREATER STILLWATER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Stillwater is Open for Business; Let’s Dance!

Stillwater, MN - The road might be closed but we are not!
The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) in partnership with the City of Stillwater, Leo’s Grill and Malt Shop, MadCapper, Stillwater Proper, and Alchemy Sound & Vision have come together to host a historic DANCE HERE event on Saturday August 5, 2023, from 12 noon to 10 pm on Main Street in Downtown Stillwater.

Please join us for music and activities all day. Bring the whole family and eat, drink, shop, and dance local. We will have a few bands, including a big band, and DJ during the 10 hour timeframe. Dress up with fun hats and memorable outfits to make your mark in history. There will be a contest for both best hat and outfit. We will also be recreating this picture taken in 1901; photos will be taken at 2pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm. Come out and be a part of history, all while supporting your local small businesses. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to dance on Main Street, an official state highway.

“Stillwater has one of the strongest Chambers in the state,” says Mayor Ted Kozlowski, “they are all about collaboration, strengthening the business community and focuses on the economic impact,” he continues. Proof positive that together in collaboration, we can make the best of any situation. “This community has some amazing and creative people,” states Robin Anthony, President of the Chamber, “we are proud to work with these community leaders to bring this one-day event to our downtown Main Street,” she continues.

A special thank you to Frederick Holcolme who took this wonderful photograph. Find this and more historic photographs at Stillwater Public Library, St. Croix Collection Room and also available from the Minnesota Digital Library.

The Main Street detour allows for a once in a lifetime opportunity to DANCE HERE, in the street, just like they did in a historic photo from 1901. Join the fun on August 5th, as we recreate the photograph. Music from Noon ‘til 10pm.
