News Release: 5/26/2022 Chamber Celebrates RE/MAX Professionals new location ‘at the Sauntry’.

Stillwater, MN. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce celebrated local business, RE/MAX Professionals’ new location at the historic William Sauntry Mansion with a ribbon cutting on May 19th, 2022. The event took place at 626 4th Street N, Stillwater, MN.  Sonya and Justin Fox, their agents, family, friends, Greater Stillwater Chamber ambassadors and staff were there to join in the celebration.

RE/MAX Professionals franchise owners Justin and Sonya Fox purchased the historical William Sauntry mansion for their real estate business in September of 2021 and recently completed renovations. The William Sauntry Mansion was built in 1881 by lumber-baron William Sauntry and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

"This was quite an undertaking with a lot of moving parts," said Justin Fox. "We are grateful to the sellers, Mr. and Mrs. Lynum, the City of Stillwater and the community for seeing our vision for this property. We look forward to being both great stewards of this historic landmark and great community partners."

The property was zoned two-family residential and had previously been operating as a Bed & Breakfast under a conditional use permit. For the property to be used as a commercial office, the Fox's company 626 4th, LLC engaged an attorney to draft a zoning ordinance text amendment, which the City of Stillwater adopted in July of 2021. The law now allows a Historic Preservation Use Variance to be proposed for properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Historic Preservation Use Variance for the Sauntry Mansion was approved by Stillwater's Historic Preservation Commission, in July of 2021.
