Oak Ridge Place Executive Director receives state-wide recognition

Care Providers of Minnesota announced that Amy Howard, Executive Director, Oak Ridge Place, was presented with the Leader of the Year Award at a statewide senior care convention held earlier this month in Minneapolis. The Leader of the Year Award recognizes the achievements of an individual at the senior leadership level for their contributions and skill.

Amy was selected as this year’s recipient due to her willingness and efforts to teach her employees how to be their best by guiding them to make sound decisions that are based on feelings and facts. She is a perfect example of how a manager makes staff feel important, valued, and appreciated.

Amy is well-versed in all aspects of her job including the laws surrounding this sector of assisted living, an understanding of business economics, and is remarkable recalling information. She leads with conviction, determination, and kindness. The staff and residents respect her and stand by her decisions as she is selfless, kind, and down-to-earth. Amy puts her staff and residents needs over hers; she sees and cultivates the abilities that even an individual may not recognize themselves. It shows that she is passionate about her career and her team, and how they grow with her and the organization. She sets a good example for all staff while being open-minded and gets to know all her staff on a deeper level.

When there is a need, she doesn’t hesitate to work on the floor as an HHA, help maintenance with a sheetrock problem, or in the kitchen and cook for everyone. She is the best example of a team player and propels her team forward with her positive attitude and witty jokes. Amy is always smiling, professional, and a mentor to all. She gives amazing advice and her doors are always open for all residents and staff if they need to vent or just need someone to talk to. What also makes her a great leader is that she is so understanding and compassionate.

Amy was presented with his award during a keynote session, which was part of the three-day educational convention for long-term care providers. Presenting the award was Toby Pearson, president and CEO of Care Providers of Minnesota, and Amanda Johnson, Board of Director’s Chair, Care Providers of Minnesota.
