Gloria!

Our “classic” concert features one of Antonio Vivaldi’s best-known compositions, the Gloria, and Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir’s Mass of Guðbrandur, for 4 voices, chorus & orchestra.  The contrast of the two works unites the past with the present, the familiar with the new.  The wonderfully sunny nature of the Gloria, with its distinctive melodies and rhythms, is characteristic of all Vivaldi’s music and will complement Rúnarsdóttir’s Mass which is said to be “lyrical without being overly bound up by major-minor tonality and at times transparent and fragile, at others, powerful and strong.”
